OUR PROCESS: STEP-BY-STEP

STEP 1. ORDER YOUR DRESS

The Ivory Black experience begins when you order your wedding dress. Simply add it to your basket, go through the checkout, and we’ll take it from there…

STEP 2. SAY HELLO TO YOUR PERSONAL DESIGNER

Once you’ve placed your order we’ll select our best designer for you and your gown.

They'll be in touch via email within 48 hours from when you place your order to introduce themselves, and will stay with you right up until your wedding day.

They’ll give you a phone number and a unique email address on which you can contact them, for free, whenever you have a question.

STEP 3. SEND US YOUR MEASUREMENTS

Your designer will guide you through the self-measurement process that will ensure the perfect fit for your new gown.

Unlike a traditional fitting, this shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes, and then you can get on with the rest of your day.

You can get a sneak preview of what we’ll ask for with our guide to self-measurement.

STEP 4. THEN WE WORK ON YOUR GOWN

All gowns have a minimum 3 month turn-around time, that’s why we ask that you order as far in advance of your wedding date as possible to avoid disappointment.

When production is underway, we’ll send you regular check-ups so you can stay abreast of how it’s coming along.

And if your measurements change during production, please let us know as soon as you can. This might necessitate a change to how we’re building your dress.

STEP 5. ONCE IT’S READY WE SEND IT VIA COURIER

We’ll carefully wrap your new wedding dress and pack it in one of our beautiful, hard-wearing boxes to send to you.

It will be encased in plastic (to protect it from water damage) and in acid-free tissue paper (to protect it from hard creasing).

International orders are sent via courier, which generally takes between 7-14 business days. UK orders are sent via Royal Mail, which usually takes between 2-4 business days.

Please bear in mind that international orders may incur duties and taxes, for which you may have to pay to receive your wedding gown. Duties and taxes are calculated based on what item was ordered, the value, and the destination of that order, and as they are levied by your local customs authority we’re unable to estimate what these charges may be.

STEP 6. UNPACK IT WHEN IT ARRIVES AND KEEP IT SAFE

When your dress arrives, please make sure that you take it out of its box right away and try it on.

We can recommend a local tailor who can easily make amendments to the sizing, if any final tweaks are necessary.

Once you're happy that it fits, hang it somewhere dry and out of the sunlight until your big day.

If you live somewhere prone to moths and other fabric-eating creatures, it might be worth keeping your gown inside its plastic to keep it safe and sound.

STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?

Please feel free to send us a message through our enquiry form. We’ll be happy to answer any question you might have. And if you’d like to chat face-to-face, we can even set up a Skype conversation or a phone call.
